Midtown Borough, PA (WHTM) – A card splitter is located at a business in Dauphin County.
The device was owned by an employee at 7-Eleven at 12 East Avenue, according to Middletown Police. The device was discovered in October. 14 On countertop readers, only reported in October. 26.
Card readers are devices hidden inside legitimate card readers that use the card’s magnetic stripe to gain access to a user’s data without the user’s knowledge.
Police said it was unclear when the skimmer was placed. Anyone using a debit or credit card at 7-11 should check their account and contact their bank.
Any fraudulent activity should be reported to Middletown Regional Police.
