Zonta ADK partners with local businesses to fundraise | News, Sports, Jobs


LAKE PLACID — Zonta ADK announced Tuesday that the group will be working with local businesses this month to raise awareness of domestic violence. The club also hosts two annual events.

Throughout October, Zonta ADK has partnered with Pure Placid to help raise awareness and raise funds for Zonta’s Say No to Violence Against Women campaign. Through this campaign, Zonde members and allies aim to speak out for those who experience gender-based violence.Sale of special benefits “Zonta Says No” The candles will be used for projects that help women in need, including large donations of menstrual products to area food pantries, small grants to local women, and educational opportunities for women and girls in need, such as local scholarships.

Sunday, October. On the 16th, the club will once again host its annual Free the Girls bra event.From noon to 2 p.m., the club will help women rescued from sex trafficking and seeking reintegration at the Agnes School in St. Lake Placid “normal” Life. After collecting the bras, women in countries like El Salvador, Mozambique and Costa Rica will start selling bras on the second-hand market with the help of the nonprofit Free the Girls.

Zonta ADK’s third annual Halloween Decoration Contest was also held this month. Admission is free and should feature indoor or outdoor Halloween decorations. Details can be found on the Zonta ADK Facebook page.Contestants must be simple “like” Club’s Facebook page and email photos of their decorations to adirondacks@zontadistrict2.org by October. 22. The winner will be “Fan Favorite” As voted on the Zonde Club Facebook page between October 10th. 23-25. Prizes must be picked up at Lake Placid and cannot be mailed.
