Slimming shots used by some Hollywood A-listers will be available in UK pharmacies in spring.

People will have to go through their online doctor service to get the drug — a service that will launch in the spring, Boots said.

This service is designed to support and help clients who are concerned about the impact of their weight on their health.

Customers will have access to treatment after completing an online consultation form, which will be assessed by a clinician, the pharmacist said.

What is Wegovy and who can access it?

Wegovy, manufactured by Novo Nordisk, is now licensed in the UK for use in weight loss and weight maintenance.

This medicine is for people with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or more, or a BMI of 27 or more with a weight-related medical condition.

In the meantime, Boots says it offers customers a follow-up and support package, available through their online doctor weight loss treatment service.

“We will soon be launching a free 10-week weight loss program for patients to complete while undergoing treatment,” it said.
