A doctor has shared a bizarre video of her removing 23 contact lenses from a patient’s eye.
Dr. Katerina Kurteeva posted the clip at Instagram Or she made fun of the lenses from under a woman’s eyelid.
The video went viral and has now garnered more than one million views.
According to the ophthalmologist’s post, the patient wore a new pair of lenses for 23 days in a row and had not worn them the previous day.
Posting the video on the California Eye Society’s Instagram page, she wrote: “This is a rare situation where someone ‘forgets’ to take off their contact lenses at night and continues to put on a new one every morning. 23 days in a row !!! I got a contact lens bundle delivered at my clinic yesterday.”

The video shows a close-up of the patient’s eye as Dr. Kurteeva carefully scrapes the lens off with a cotton swab.
In another Instagram post, she wrote: “With over a million views, glad to have the opportunity to educate the public about hygienic contact lens wear.
“I carefully separated all the contact lenses and counted 23. I had to use a very delicate surgical instrument – jeweler’s tweezers to separate the lenses.
“After sitting under the eyelids for a month, they basically stuck together.”
and InsiderDr. Kurteeva added: “In nearly 20 years of practice, I have never seen anything like this. The patient also couldn’t believe it and asked me if I was sure about the numbers I was counting.”
She added that the patient was given eye drops and felt “a lot better already”.
