Teens arrested after Wichita business riot

Wichita police arrested two teens Saturday night after a disturbance at a store in south Wichita.

Police were working off-duty at a business in the 3200 block of South Meridian when a 15-year-old girl threatened employees. They asked the girl to leave, but she continued to threaten and refused to leave. The girl tried to hit an officer but missed, and a fight broke out when the officer tried to take the girl into custody. A 16-year-old boy was involved and hit an officer in the back of the head. An altercation ensued with the teenager and more officers were called to the business.

The girl was booked into a youth detention and assessment center for assault, battery of a law enforcement officer, and offensive and harassing sexual contact. The boy was booked into a youth center for battery and two counts of obstructing.

Video of some of the incident has been circulated on social media and police said it was being reviewed by the Investigative Unit and the Professional Standards Authority.
