Taylor Swift becomes first person to reach top 10 on U.S. charts | Ents & Art News

Taylor Swift became the first artist to reach the top 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

All songs are from the pop star’s latest album, Midnights, which was released a week ago on Friday, October 21st.

That record was previously held by American rapper Drake, who had nine of the top 10 songs in a week last September.

Reacting to the news, Swift tweeted to her 91.5 million followers: “10 out of 10 on top 100??? On my 10th album??? I A mess.”

Her first single from the album – Anti-Hero – captured the top spot, marking her ninth career number one.

Other top 10 hits were Lavender Haze, Maroon, Snow On The Beach, Midnight Rain, Bejeweled, Question…?, You’re On Your Own, Kid, Karma and Vigilante S***.

According to Official Charts, Midnight is the fastest-selling album of the year, surpassing Harry Styles’ Harry’s House.

It sold 204,000 charts in seven days — more than double Swift’s previous best of 90,300 — which she achieved on her 2014 album 1989.

It was the best-selling first week for an album since Adele’s album 30 was released last November, and the most-streamed album of the year, with 72.5 million streams in seven days.

Swift also dominated the UK charts last week, with both Midnight and Antihero taking the top spot.

Just days after the antihero’s music video sparked controversy.

The original version of the song shows the pop superstar stepping on a bathroom scale before the dial spins, displaying the word “fat.”

But it was updated on YouTube and Apple Music, and the new version showed Swift only received the disapproving emoji from the side avatar.

The change came after some fans and public figures criticized the original scene, suggesting it fostered “fat phobia.”
