A Maui jewelry business that employs several adults with autism has become a social media sensation. To date, Depo Market’s TikTok video has garnered over 3.5 million likes. The company was founded by jewelry designer Tiffany Chou and her autistic brother Chris, who also designs jewelry.
Tiffany Chou spent ten years working in fashion in New York, creating her signature collections. Her work has appeared on national television shows and magazines worldwide. She returned home to Valley Island in 2018 as a full-time caregiver for her brother.
They started Depo Market to make money for Chris Chou, but it quickly turned into an opportunity for other autism professionals to make a living.
The Conversation sat down with Tiffany and Chris Chou to talk about their business and its impact on people with disabilities. They are working on opening a physical store in Wailuku.
