The co-executive producer of the hit American comedy show “Scrubs” has been charged with 18 counts of sexual assault.

Eric Weinberg is accused of using his “Hollywood credentials” to lure several young women into taking pictures and then assault them, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney.

The 62-year-old’s charges include six counts of sexual assault by force, four counts of oral sex, three counts of forced rape and two counts of bondage battery.

All stem from alleged incidents involving five women between 2014 and 2019.

At the time of the alleged crime, he was not working on Scrubs, which ended in March 2010 after more than nine years on the air.

Weinberg also faces charges of assault by force likely to cause grievous bodily harm, attempted sexual assault by force and false imprisonment by force.

In 2014, he approached two women in public on separate occasions and told them he was a photographer, according to the district attorney.

After communicating with each victim, they eventually went to his home, where he was accused of sexually assaulting them.

Weinberg then allegedly used the same trick to bring another young woman to his home and sexually assaulted her in 2017.

In 2018 and 2019, he was accused of sexually assaulting two other women in separate incidents.

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon said: “The defendant relied on his Hollywood credentials to lure young women into taking pictures, where he allegedly sexually assaulted them.”

“Power and influence corrupt some people to harm others, often with lifelong trauma to the victim.”

The writer, who also worked on the show California, was Arrested in July But he has been released from prison after posting a $5 million (£4.4 million) bond.

He is expected to appear in court on October 25.

The LAPD is still investigating the case and is urging further victims or anyone with information to contact detectives.
