Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360: Hands-on and how to preorder it

Samsung may be best known for its Galaxy phones, but the company’s laptops are no slouch either. The Galaxy Book line has always impressed us with its smart, attractive, and versatile designs, so it’s no surprise that Samsung hasn’t reinvented the wheel for the Galaxy Book 3 line — even though it brings a strong of new members.

This year’s lineup includes the Galaxy Book 3 Pro, the transformable Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360, and the debut Galaxy Book 3 Ultra, which features the highest-end Intel and Nvidia chipsets for productive productivity and immersive PC gaming.

This all sounds promising, but with starting prices ranging from $1,450 for the Pro to $2,400 for the Ultra, these high-end PCs don’t come cheap. Wondering if they’re worth pre-ordering? We’ll have to properly test Samsung’s latest laptops to see how they stack up against the best, but here’s our thoughts after our early hands-on.

Galaxy Book 3 prices and preorders

All three Galaxy Book 3 models are available for preorder now and will ship on February 17. 17.

The Galaxy Book 3 Pro starts at $1,450 and will be available in 14-inch and 16-inch versions in graphite and beige. The 16-inch Book 3 Pro 360 starts at $1,900 in the same color, while the 16-inch Book 3 Ultra starts at $2,400 and is only available in graphite.

Smart looks, high power, and cross-device functionality

Most of my hands-on time was spent with the Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360, a laptop that improves on the Book 2 Pro 360 we really dug last year (seriously, Samsung needs to simplify these names). Its slender beige frame looks very sleek (it looks more like gold), and it feels surprisingly light for a 16-inch laptop—which was especially striking when I picked it up and folded it into a tablet. attention.

In my limited testing time, the laptop’s 16-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen looked bright and colorful, and its smooth 120Hz refresh rate made swiping through webpages — and taking notes with the included S Pen — feel great.With a vivid 2880 x 1800 display, the Book 3 Pro 360’s panel is sharper and It is taller than the previous generation, with a 16:10 screen ratio, which seems to be the new standard for many 2023 machines.

I appreciate that the Book 3 Pro 360 has a healthy selection of ports, and is one of the few laptops that still includes a USB-A connection — especially handy if you use a lot of older accessories. You also get the typical USB-C Thunderbolt 4 port combo along with an HDMI port and a microSD card slot. The 360’s keyboard is responsive, but a bit shallow for my liking; I had much better typing times on the standard Pro and Ultra. Also, while I love that the laptop includes a stylus — a rarity for a 2-in-1 — I’m disappointed that there’s nowhere to store it neatly on the laptop itself (the S Pen attaches magnetically to the laptop, but that would be less ideal than having a safe place to lock it).

The Pro 360 I tested synced with the Galaxy Tab S8, which allowed me to try out Multi Control (which lets you control multiple devices from your laptop’s keyboard and touchpad) and Second Screen (which turns your tablet into an extra monitor). Moving between the laptop and tablet from a single trackpad mostly felt intuitive, though I did notice a bit of lag on the latter. This feature is available across the entire previous and current generation of Galaxy Books, and seems like a nice perk for those who primarily use Samsung devices.

I haven’t spent that much time with the Book 3 Pro and Book 3 Ultra, but the latter is of particular interest to me. Samsung’s highest-end laptop comes with a 13th-gen Intel Core i9 processor and Nvidia’s new RTX 40-series graphics, which should make it a beast for everyday workloads as well as intensive photo and video editing. The powerful Nvidia GPUs I saw on other laptops earlier this year could make the Book 3 Ultra the perfect low-profile gaming laptop — something you can sneak into the office or coffee shop without frowning. The Ultra’s rich AMOLED screen is impressive at first glance, and its keyboard has a satisfying spring. Samsung calls it “the fastest Galaxy Book yet,” a claim we’re eager to put to the test in our benchmarks.

The Book 3 Pro 360 is shaping up to be a worthy follow-up to one of our favorite laptops of the last year, and it could be for those who want a powerful laptop that also doubles as a tablet for drawing and photography. is a selection note.
