
A 24-year-old man on a motorcycle died in Lexington on Sunday after he crashed into another vehicle while fleeing police.
According to information provided by the Lexington Police Department, at approximately 11:30 a.m., an officer noticed a motorcyclist driving north at high speed on South Street near Fourth Avenue.

At the time, police turned on their blue lights and started to stop, but before they could pursue the driver, he crashed into another vehicle.
According to law enforcement, the motorcyclist failed to stop while running a red light on Second Avenue and struck a passenger vehicle while crossing the intersection. The motorcyclist’s driver was transported by Davidson County EMS to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Lexington Medical Center, where he later died of his injuries.

The victim’s name has not been released.
The passenger car that was hit suffered serious damage, but no passengers were injured.
