Buffalo, NY (WIVB) — Mercy Hospital is rolling out new technology to improve communication between first responders and physicians.

The new “Pulsara” system is available for smartphones and tablets. It allows first responders to send live video and information directly from the ambulance.

“Time is of the essence for these patients, so the faster we can communicate with specialists to get them into a cardiac catheterization lab or a stroke patient’s lab, the better the results will be. Improve our patient outcomes,” said Emily James, system manager for the hospital’s emergency and neuroscience services.

Mercy Hospital said it was the first hospital in the region to use the technology. Catholic Health said it would roll out the system at its other hospitals.
