The Lotus Group will continue to do what it has always done, even before Geely and Etika Automotive jointly acquired it.
Lotus has been working on suspension development for years, not just for its own cars. Lesser-known brands like Proton happily brag about having Lotus-tuned suspension, while manufacturers like Aston Martin have kept it low for good reason. Not just sports cars. Lotus was involved in the development of the Hyundai Genesis suspension.
Lotus’ electrification history dates back to 2011, when it powered the Rolls-Royce 102EX, the spiritual predecessor of the upcoming all-electric Spectre.
It’s unclear why Lotus Technology isn’t yet on the market, but we suspect it has something to do with the launch of the Eletre. Production will begin by the end of this year, while deliveries will begin in 2023.
Most likely, Lotus Technology wants to demonstrate its capabilities before going public, which could lead to a healthier cash inflow than initially anticipated.
