Topeka, Kan. (WIBW) – A Los Angeles business owner returned to Kansas on Monday, September 26 to share his success story with Washburn University undergraduates.
Washburn students hear from co-owners of Los Angeles skincare company Mindi Walters Skincare and Topeka native Christopher Szamosszegi.
He currently lives in Los Angeles, but according to Szamosszegi, he was born in Topeka. Chris is also a registered member of the prairie band Potawatomi Nation.
On Monday, he spoke with some college students about his life in Kansas and the benefits of working in a diverse environment.
“You’re learning from people who have different experiences and backgrounds than you, and that’s beneficial,” Szamosszegi said. “You’re seeing something from an angle you don’t see. If you understand other people’s lives and backgrounds, You will be more successful.”
He also gave some advice and answered questions to some of the students.
“I’m just sharing my story and my journey of starting my own company from scratch and taking it to where it is now and answering questions like ‘how did you get to this point’ like ‘what’s your strategy What’, ‘What do you regret’, it’s a good question, just to give them some idea of how to start a business,” Szamosszegi said.
He will speak at the Greater Topeka Partnership’s annual Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Summit on Tuesday, September 26 at the Prairie Band Casino.
