Lexington woman charged with murder conspiracy

An Elwood woman was charged Tuesday with planning the murders of five people, the Nebraska Patrol said.

NSP spokesman Cody Thomas said the investigation began last week when the Gosper County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a citizen about Valerie Miller, 39, of Elwood. suspicious comments.

The Gosper County Sheriff’s Office notified the Nebraska Patrol.

The woman was contacted by an NSP undercover investigator. After talking online, Miller agreed to meet with investigators in person, Thomas said.

Investigators met with Miller at an agreed-upon location in Lexington late Monday afternoon. Investigators learned that Miller tried to kill five specific people and tried to hire investigators to carry out the murders, Thomas said.

After the meeting, Miller drove two miles before police pulled her over and took her into custody without issue. She was taken to Dawson County Jail and charged with conspiracy to murder, five counts of attempted first-degree murder and making a terrorist threat.

Thomas said the Nebraska Patrol, the FBI, the CODE Task Force and the Gosper County Sheriff’s Office cooperated in this investigation and arrest.
