Lexington police begin arresting man suspected of homicide in August

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) — Lexington police have arrested a man charged in connection with a homicide last month.

James Cartlett, 45, was arrested on Saturday and charged with the murder of Dietrich Murray, 29.

On August 31, police responded to a shot and killed victim on Loudon Ave and N. Broadway. When police arrived, they found Murray with gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital in a reported life-threatening situation and was later pronounced dead. During the investigation, investigators determined that the shooting occurred in the 700 block of Dakota Street.

Cartwright is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.
