Kevin Richard Haider, 38, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography in U.S. District Court on June 10.

Haider was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison and will be released under supervision for another 20 years, according to a press release issued Thursday.

The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that an Instagram user had uploaded child pornography, federal prosecutors said in court documents. Investigators quickly identified the user as Haider.

In 2003, Haider was convicted of attempting to molest a child, according to a 2019 Winston-Salem Journal article. In 2014, he was convicted of molesting a child, the article said. Detectives with the Davidson County Sheriff found several pornographic images of young girls on a cell phone, federal prosecutors said in court documents. On the same day, Luis Armando Diaz-Otero, 33, of Randolph County, was sentenced to 12 years and 6 months in prison for child pornography.
