MOSCOW, Nov 22 (Reuters) – Chinese telecom giant Huawei [RIC:RIC:HWT.UL] A source close to the company told Reuters on Tuesday that it was separating its corporate units in Russia and Belarus from other CIS countries.
Russia’s Vedomosti daily newspaper first reported the move, citing sources. Other countries in the Commonwealth of Independent States, made up of former Soviet republics, will now be under the supervision of Huawei’s Bahrain office.
Sources told Reuters that work on the change had already begun and that the new arrangement would be formally operational by early 2023.
Huawei did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Vedomosti reported in September that Huawei had moved some Russian employees to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
