High School Sports: McCook Girls Softball to Play Wahoo in Regional Finals (04/10/22)

McCook High School’s softball team lined up after winning the B-9 divisional championship at Holdreg on Monday night.The Bison will play a best-of-three B state qualifier at Wahoo on Friday, with Game 1 scheduled for 2 p.m.

LINCOLN, Nebraska — The McCook High B-9 champion softball girls will have their best performance in Wahoo’s three-state qualifier finals series against the 27-2 Warriors.

In the first game, the first game is set to 2 pm.

In Monday’s B-5 division finals, the Wahoo Girls lost 5-4 to Norris for their second loss in the entire season. They entered the title fight with a 19-0 victory over Cumming County earlier.

Wahoo’s other defeat was a 2-0 win over Beatrice on September 2. 24. The Warriors went 23-0 in that game.

McCook (10-17 record) entered Monday’s B-9 division as No. 1. Holdrege’s No. 3 seed. Bison beat No. 2 Kearney Catholics, 10-2, then eliminated. 4 Lexington won the championship 11-3.

Lexington wasn’t happy. 1 Holdrege-Hastings Adams Central, 15-13, in another B-9 semifinal on Monday.

Watch for more details on Friday’s Regional Finals series. The winner will advance to the Class B State Championships in Hastings next week.
