Florida shooting: Photographer at scene says gunman ‘kept shooting at me’ and describes moment his colleague was killed | US News

A photographer has described the moment his fellow journalists were killed in a Florida shooting that left him wounded, a 9-year-old girl and a woman dead.

The suspect is identified as 19-year-old Keith Melvin Moses, Shot Nathacha Augustin, 38in Pine Hills, west of Orlando, before heading to a nearby house where he shot and killed 9-year-old T’yonna Major and seriously injured her mother.

He returned to the scene hours later and shot and killed Dylan Lyons, 24, who was reporting for Spectrum News 13, and wounded photographer Jesse Walden.

In an interview with KOB on NBC News Albuquerque, Mr. Walden recalled the moment his colleague was shot.

“Dylan is the reporter I work with every day. We are best friends

“He’s just a lovely guy.

Mr Walden explained that he was taking the camera from the back of the car where his colleague was when he heard gunshots and felt pain in his groin.

“I saw him shooting at me. I thought he was shooting at the house behind me or something and I just happened to get shot.

“But he kept shooting at me.”

Mr. Walden said he ducked under the wheels of the car as the gunman stepped forward and opened fire.

Dylan Lyons, who was in the passenger seat, was struck and killed.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office also shared dramatic body camera footage of the moment suspect Moses was arrested.

In the swearing-filled clip, Moses repeatedly screamed “let me go” and “I can’t breathe” at officers after being thrown to the ground.

When Moses said, “It’s still hot,” an officer then took a gun from Moses’ pocket.

In other photos released by police, Moses appeared to be smiling as he was taken into custody.

Moses was formally charged with the murder of Ms. Augustine, whom he knew.

Additional charges will follow related to four other victims he did not know.

The teen has a long criminal history — including gun-related charges, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and theft, according to officials.
