Two Florida men cannibalized each other in a deadly shootout at a business they jointly owned.
The shooting happened Thursday afternoon at their business in Lakeland, Florida 3135 US 92 East. While the Polk County Sheriff’s Office did not release the name of the business, a Google search showed the address as the Service On Site of Central Florida Inc., an auto service business.
The pair, business partners Akeido Bennett, 31, and Xavier Figueroa, 39, shot each other, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Bennett reportedly died at the scene of the shooting, while Figueroa tried to leave the company in the truck but later died of his gunshot wounds.
“This is a tragedy that could have been avoided because of a rift between business partners,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said. Instead of resorting to violence. These people are alive today, and their families would not grieve if they had settled their differences civilly.”
Deputies said an investigation into the shooting was ongoing.
