Fern Hollow Bridge: Businesses prepare to reopen

While the ribbon cutting of the FERN HOLLOW Bridge took place today, it has not yet opened, but it is drawing to a close, exciting business owners on both sides. >> I’m excited. REPORTER: At SQUIRREL HILL THE Forbes’ EVA Fashion, the owner told me that for almost a year, customers have been cut off from her store and others on both sides. >> We opened two months before COVID. COVID shut us down. We opened backwards, and then the bridge collapsed. Reporter: The DIVE bar on the Regency Plaza side of Fern Hollow has also been through a tough time, but the general manager told me they are ready for change and have big plans for reopening. >> On the second Saturday in January, I will be hosting a Bridge Reopening Party with a special menu from 2:00pm to midnight. Businesses brace for Fern Hollow Bridge reopening

Officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Fern Hollow Bridge on Wednesday, but the bridge has not yet opened. But it’s close, much to the excited to the business owners in Squirrel Hill. At Ehua Fashion on Forbes in Squirrel Hill, owner Eva Chem tells us that for a long time, customers have been cut off from her store and others on either side. She says she’s “so excited” for the reopening. Paul Foley is general manager of The Dive Bar on the Regency Square side of Fern Hollow Bridge. “We opened two months before COVID, but COVID shut us down. We reopened, and then the bridge collapsed,” Foley said. Dive Bar has had a tough time, but the general manager told us they are ready for a change and have big plans for reopening the bridge. “The second Saturday in January, I’ll be throwing a bridge reopening party with a special menu from about 2 p.m. to midnight,” Foley said. At Ehua Fashion, Chem is just hoping that the bridge opening a few days before Christmas will give the holidays some boost: “I think I’ll have more people coming in.” The Fern Hollow Bridge will open on Friday after being closed for 329 days.

The Fern Hollow Bridge will open on Friday after being closed for 329 days.
