Donald Trump appears to be back on Twitter after online polls voted him back.
The platform’s new owner, Elon Musk, announced late Saturday that following a vote, the former president will be reinstated nearly two years after he was removed from office following the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol.
Upon hearing the news, the former US president initially said he had no interest in rejoining, but late Saturday, a verified blue-tick account claiming to be “@RealDonald Trump, 45th President of the United States of America” emerged and “He’s back” is a popular phrase in America.
A Twitter poll accompanied by the words “Vox Populi, Vox Dei” — a Latin phrase meaning “the voice of the people is the voice of God” — asked users to vote on whether Trump should be allowed to return, and the results Yes he should.
More than 15 million ballots were cast, but the former president told a rally Saturday night: “I don’t see any reason (to return).”
He said he would stick with his new social media platform, Truth Social.
