BISMARCK – Attorney General Drew Wrigley announced Thursday that a Las Vegas company called Nu Life Institute and its owner, Edward Baca III, are now barred from doing business in North Dakota. 19.
It happened after an elderly woman paid $844 for a product she believed would treat macular degeneration, according to a statement from Wrigley.
Macular degeneration is a disease that blurs central vision with age.
According to Wrigley, the woman did not receive the products she ordered from Nu Life, but the seller said she sold her cosmetics. Nu Life refused to refund the woman or cooperate with the attorney general’s office investigation, Wrigley said.
“The alleged conduct against Nu Life Institute and Edward Baca III is appalling because they have refused to cooperate with our investigation,” Wrigley said in a statement. “The lack of cooperation is irresponsible and unacceptable, and we will not tolerate the risk of additional harm to our consumers.”
