Columbia’s Vheda Health Confirms Minority Status in Illinois Commercial Enterprise Program

Columbia-based Vheda Health, a national chronic care company that uses advanced monitoring technology to reduce healthcare costs and improve member engagement, HEDIS and STARs scores for underserved Medicaid and SNP populations, announced Monday. , it has regained the state’s Minority Business Certification or the Illinois Business Program (BEP).

The Business Enterprise Program was created by the Illinois Commission on Equity and Inclusion (CEI) to expand access to state contracts for minorities, women, people with disabilities, and veterans, and to assist the state in improving equity and inclusion across the workforce. Vheda Health has completed a full BEP certification which is valid for seven years.

Illinois’ Medicaid, SNP, and Medicare health insurance programs are recipients of state funding and are required by state regulations to partner with companies that hold MBE designation as a way to create an ongoing and valuable supply chain. These same health insurance plans are required to allocate a portion of the budget and contract with BEP-certified companies and meet annual spending targets.

According to data compiled by the Kaiser Family Foundation, Illinois ranks first. No. 7 in total Medicaid spending—$26.9 billion in fiscal 2021—accounts for 3.5% of total U.S. Medicaid spending.
