Black Business Union members reflect on their first year

TERREHAUT, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – About a year ago, LT Thompson joined the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce as coordinator for the Black Business Alliance.

The Black Business Alliance helps serve small Black businesses and entrepreneurs in the seven-county area of western central Indiana. Regular BBA meetings are held at the Chamber’s downtown offices and around Terre Haute with business owners in attendance.

The group’s goal is to help others get started, start a business and provide business resources. One goal Thompson hopes to achieve this year is to reach high school students and help them start businesses.

Thompson said he has seen the impact the group is having in the community.

“A lot of times, businesses or entrepreneurs feel like they have to do it themselves. So, in this case, you don’t have to. There are resources available,” Thompson said. “So, that’s a great way to put it, let’s use these resources for help. Get some advice and get the resources you might need to take your business to the next level.”

Anyone interested in joining the BBA as a member may contact Thompson at Lthompson@terrehautechamber.com, or contact the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce for more information.
