Julian Sands’ family has hailed California authorities’ “heroic” efforts to find the missing British actor.

As the search entered its 11th day, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement thanking the organizations.

sands He was first reported missing on January 13 in the Baldy Bowl area of ​​the San Gabriel Mountains in southern California.

In a statement, his family said they were “deeply touched” by the support they had received.

In a message sharing the statement, the Sheriff’s Department added: “As we enter day 11 of the search for Julian Sands on Mount Baldy, we are reminded of the absolute determination and selflessness of all those who assisted in this search.

“We will continue to utilize the resources available to us.”

On Monday, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s department said conditions remained too dangerous for ground crews to operate and that the search would be conducted by helicopter.

It has previously been revealed that a ping from Sands’ phone appeared to show he had been heading towards the Baldy Bowl mountains on the day he was reported missing.

Sands was born in Yorkshire and moved to Los Angeles in 2020.

His breakthrough role was as the free-spirited George on the period drama A Room with a View, opposite Helena Bonham Carter.

He later turned to horror – appearing in films such as Leaving Vegas, Warlock and Arachnophobia.

Most recently, he played the Chief Medical Officer in the 2021 TV series Blessings starring Jack Lowden and Peter Capaldi.
