Phoenix (3TV/CBS 5) — Hazardous materials teams at the Phoenix Fire Department and other area agencies are working to fix an ammonia leak at a South Phoenix business.
Crews were called to the Reddy Ice facility on 40th Street south of Broadway around 1 a.m. Saturday. Local residents told family members in Arizona that they could smell ammonia in the air.
Phoenix fire officials said crews were making progress, but the nearby area had been evacuated. No injuries were reported.
Traffic in the area may be affected. Drivers traveling to the area should consider alternative routes.
