CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) — Some business owners on the city’s East Side plan to sue the city after they say construction projects cost them money.
These businesses are located on E. 105th Street in Glenville.
Owner Kimberly Carter said workers stopped work this time last year but never removed the orange barrels from the road.
“We haven’t seen any construction. There’s no place to park, one-way traffic,” Carter explained.
Business owners told the 19 News troubleshooter that the orange bucket made it difficult for their customers and delivery drivers to navigate the road and find a parking space.
“Food sometimes gets back to customers late because there’s nowhere to park,” said business owner Omar Clark. “So, I recently had to cancel Door Dash, Uber Eats and Grub Hub.”
“I missed several shipments because the truck had nowhere to park,” said business owner William Rothbard. “Also, I’ve had a couple of customers come over and they keep going because they don’t have a place to park.”
19 News spoke with Cleveland City Councilman Kevin Conwell, who told CNN that contractors are asking for more money to get the job done.
Cornwell said the city’s legal team is now involved in resolving the issue and they are working to complete the project as quickly as possible.
