2022 Stuff-A-Bus registration now open

If you need help at Christmas, residents of the Columbia, Orangeburg, Sumter and Manning areas can sign up for WLTX, The Salvation Army Christmas Drive-Thru Edition

COLUMBIA, South Carolina — Christmas plans for October may seem a little early, but the holidays are only a few weeks away. This year, News19 is once again partnering with the Salvation Army to serve families who may still be struggling.

For those in need of help with gifts for their children, registration for the 2022 Stuff-A-Bus Christmas Drive-thru is now open to those living in Columbia, Sumter and Manning (for Orangeburg residents, registration starts on October 10).

In Colombia: Register online at www.SAAngeltree.org or in person on October 28 (or until available places reach capacity) at the Salvation Army Worship and Service Center, 3024 Faro Road, 9am-3:30pm

Applicants must provide the following information:

  • The photo ID of the head of household.
  • ID for everyone living in the household.The following IDs can be used: U.S. Driver’s License, Social Security Card, State Issued Non-Driving ID, U.S. Passport, Employee ID, School ID, Health Insurance Card, Medicare, Matricula Consular ID, U.S. Army ID, Birth prove
  • Proof of age for each child 12 years or younger. Only children 12 and under can receive Christmas gifts. A birth certificate or other official document can be used to prove age.
  • If your household is currently eligible for food stamps (SNAP), please bring your EBT card and receipts for recent food purchases made with your card. With proof of food stamp (SNAP) benefits, items 5, 6, and 7 (below) are not required.
  • Proof of all household income in the past 30 days (payroll, unemployment statement, SSI disability, Social Security statement, VA or other pension).
  • Anyone who is 18 or older and has no income must show proof of zero wages (a statement of zero wages from the unemployment office).
  • Proof of all household expenses paid in the past 30 days (not bills you owe, but bills paid).

At Sumter and Manning: Call (803) 775-9336 during office hours (closed Tuesdays) for registration by appointment only on October 10, 10am-1pm-1pm-3pm. 3-7 and October 10-14.

Applicants must provide the following information:

  • Valid photo ID of the applicant
  • Identification of everyone in the household, such as: birth certificate, social security card, Medicaid card, green card
  • Proof of all household income, or DSS printout, or approved SNAP benefit letter
  • Proof of all household expenses (last month or current month’s bill)
  • Must show residency in Sumter, Clarendon or Lee County
  • Clothing and shoe sizes and wish lists for every child 10 and under

In Orangeburg: register online only October 10-24 at www.SAAngeltree.org. Be prepared to provide documents or information on the online form.

For those looking to donate new toys, games, clothing, shoes, and other essentials this holiday season, Stuff-A-Bus will be accepting donations at the following Walmart locations from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.:

Stuff-A-Bus staff and volunteers will implement all CDC recommended safety procedures. We’ll also make sure you never have to leave your vehicle for safety. Just stop by and one of our volunteers will transfer your donation directly from your car to the bus.
